LEAP4JOY
Maybe you're wondering where "leap4joy" comes from, and about the meaning of my illustrations. Here’s a brief description:
Probably the most obvious reason is that I have a natural affinity to the last three letters: J-O-Y. But there is more to it than just my first name. The term "leap for joy" originates from the Bible passage Psalm 28:7:
"The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to Him in song."
In this psalm, the writer expresses his joy over the fact that God is his help and support, both in negligibility and important issues in life. Here it is the writer's heart that beats and leaps for joy - despite all troubles that arise.
Though these lines were written some 3000 years ago, life still hasn't changed: still today there are small annoyances (too much traffic, missed deadlines, rain,...) and severe troubles (illnesses, conflicts, self-doubts, loneliness...) - and yet, we can make use of God's help even today because God is still the same. And since I experience this God who keeps his promises every day of my life, I can totally agree with the author of the psalm: my heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to Him in song.
Therefore my illustrations are bubbling over with energy, they are rejoicing in small things of this life, and they are full of humor, but also full of reflections on the downsides of life.
